Principal Designer

Hi, I'm Katie. I graduated with a degree in Interior Design from Liberty University and have 17 years of design experience. I have worked in several design firms offering full service and custom interior design. Since moving to Richmond I have spent most of my design career designing fabulous catalog covers for Shades Of Light, right here in Richmond, VA. If you have seen a Shades of Light catalog, then you are already familiar with my work. The great thing about designing for Shades of Light is all the experience designing for a multitude of styles! Euro Modern to Traditional Farmhouse and everything in between, I have designed it! My personal taste is very eclectic with a traditional flair. I love vintage and antique finds mixed with new pieces to create a collected feeling in my home. I love mixing patterns to keep things interesting and unique. One of my favorite things to do is find an old piece of well built furniture and refinish it to breathe new life into it and use it in a new way in my home. I would refer to myself as a furniture collector. I can never let a good chair go to waste! I am also a problem solver. I am known for my unique and creative solutions to problems that turn out amazing!
